Short Bio

A 20th/21st Century Painter who went from hobby to study design and sculpture and printmaking in 2010-2013. Now self taught painter with new insights from my design and Art Discipline study.

Statement

I enjoy both En Plein Air and Studio painting.  I often take solo art trips, painting our Country and our parks.  I've entered some invitationals, and some open en plein air events since 2019, yet feel I am still fresh out of school via only a decade out.  It's funny, my husband puts medical personnel to work, and it seems artists and medical professionals are considered babies until after a decade of school ending.

Biography

Amy Carter Ishmael, has always been involved in the arts.  She began with singing and acting, from ballet class in Georgia, and school musicals in Virginia through to studying vocal performance in college at University of North Texas, and performing in her first opera at 22.

However, after a throat surgery she took up painting as a hobby in the mid 80's and on and off she advanced that while finding her way in some various careers.

She went back to school after being an art and antique dealer for 15 years, thinking it would help her in that business.  Yet she fell in love all over again with creating, and has been creating ever since, in both the disciplines she studied at school, like printmaking, and sculpture, and design, and in the arena of painting, where she let's herself be free to experiment as much as she likes.  One of her successes last year was a painting that successfully incorporated both oil and pastel, two of her favorite media.

"It took a lot of fail moments, but it's really cool when it works! "
